What is the function of the Air Force Chief of Staff?

• Always commanded by a four-star general
• Organize, administer, equip and train their suborinate elements for the accomplishment of assigned missions and commands
• Assignments based on geography and needs of the Air Force

• Operational and warfighting activities being conducted
• Ensures readiness of forces
• Prepares forces for deployments and employment
• Plans for beddown of forces
• Exercises operational control of assigned forces

Numbered Air Forces do not maintain support functions!

Functions of Wings

• Develop and maintain the capability to conduct warfare
• Only level that can deploy and sustain itself for an indefinite length of time

• Four groups in a wing
• Functions could be operations, maintenance, mission support, or medical

• Four squadrons in a Wing
• Fundamental units in the Air Force
• Responsible for conducting the day-to-day mission of the wing

• Women may wear small conservative earring not hanging below lobe of ear
• No other visible body piercings allowed

• Will not be excessive
• Will be of good taste

• Nothing around neck or head while in uniform
• Conservative sunglasses and eyeglasses
• Sunglasses may not be worn indoors, around head, hanging from uniform, or around neck

• Any meeting the Attorney General has deemed totalitrian, fasciest, communist, or subversive, or attacks rights of others or the government
• When participating at public speeches, picket lines, marches or rallies
• When furthering politial activities, private employment, or commercial interests
• At any event that may advocate opposition with the Armed Forces of the U.S.

• Junior initiates salute to senior
• Only outside and with cover on
• When the National Anthem or the bugle call "To the Colors" is played
• When the U.S. flag is being honored or during the playing of "Ruffles and Flourishes"
• Members of work details do not salute
